Pancake Breakfast – April 27th!
Come hungry and support our youth! We're hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 27th, starting 30 minutes before both services — at 8:30 AM and 10:15 AM.
We’ll be serving up:
- Fluffy pancakes (gluten-free option available!)
- Crispy hashbrowns
- Savoury sausage
All donations will go toward helping our youth and leaders get to Kelowna this May for an amazing trip. Thanks for your support — we can’t wait to serve you breakfast!
Congratulations
Congratulations to Tyler and Breanna Wilson on the birth of their baby girl, Cecelia Joy Marie on March 29th.
Compassion Committee
If you are open to serving others in other practical ways (yard work, house maintenance, driving, cooking/baking . . . etc), please let one of the members of the Compassion Ministry know. We would love to add you to the list of people we can contact as needs arise in our congregation.
Email: compassion@mychbc.ca or head to the church website under "Our Ministries." On the Compassion Ministry page there is a form/inventory you can fill out.

Prayers for family & missionaries
Tyler & Christiane Horton, SIM, Cambridge, England: Christiane led a SIMtrain Orientation session last week for SIM UK. See the foyer board for the complete letter – here is an excerpt: “I felt quite good about how the week went, from a training point of view. I had been re-working our materials over the last 6 months or so, trying to freshen things up and change our approach to something more 'formative' and less 'instructive.' I was pleased in the end, and am thankful for those who helped by contributing to sessions and by hosting the week as well. There are a few things to tweak before the next one, but we're on the right track I think!
I dearly would love to be back in South Sudan, but I must say, I do care a whole bunch about sending people out (more) equipped to bridge cultural barriers, be constructive members of multi-cultural teams, and (hopefully) ready to thrive in settings that will challenge them. Every time I do this I am reminded how much I love the Church - the big global one of which we are a small part - and it's just such a privilege that the Lord invites us to be involved with what He is doing... blows my mind!
Tyler was also applying for some part-time work as our support is not enough to sustain us financially on its own. The answer to prayer is that he has been hired as the Outreach Officer for the Cambridge Faculty of Divinity! This is essentially a recruitment role for the undergraduate program. It requires 15 hours a week and only runs during the school terms, which seems to be a good level for providing enough financially while also allowing time for ministry with SIM. He has another new role as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Global Witness and Human Migration. We want to assure you, as our supporters, that we remain committed to the ministry which you are sending us for, and that we are trusting that God has much good for us in this new stage!
Please pray with us:
- for Sophie, who has big exams starting in May
- for Caleb, who has an offer for a place at the University of Arts London starting this fall
- for our transition to a new visa, pray that the approval process would move quickly as we need to apply for the next visa by the end of May and pray that we will be able to meet the very high costs of the visa
- as we continue looking for hew housing
- for Christiane’s next SIMtrain starting June 13 to 20
- for Tyler to transition into these new roles well.
Tyler and Christiane need further financial support as they continue to serve God and others with SIM UK. SIM Canada - Workers.
